Register Now for Spring Youth and Adult Rowing & Sculling Classes! March 12, 2012
NBC Rowers, Families, and Friends:
This is the time to register for your spring youth rowing and sculling classes. Many of you have done so already. Thank you! For those who have not, please check the status of the different groups below. This will help explain when you can row, and in what groups.
Novice Rowers:If you have no on-the-water rowing experience, you still have an opportunity to sign up for the Novice Barge, either at 3:15 PM (YSPBZ 3:15) or 4:50 PM (YSPBZ 4:50). These classes are 4 days per week, usually MonTueWedThu. You will row in the barge and zephyrs3:15 PM is FULL, so select 4:50 PM. There will also be some times that you will row on the indoor rowing machines, especially during the first two weeks of the session. Your coaches will be Fran O'Donnell and Brent Basso. Each group will comprise 10-12 rowers. Novice rowers who can only do it twice a week should sign up for the adult class, either MonWed or TueThu at 6:15 PM. Intermediate and Advanced Scullers:If you have already done the barge classes, there is plenty of room for you in these sculling groups. Plus that, advanced scullers will have done plenty of sculling in small boats. You may select MonWed (YSPX2 MonWed), TueThu (YSPX2 TueThu), or four days per week (YSPX4). Your coaches will be Kristin San Bento and Amy Abbot t. We still have some seats left for four days a week and TueThu at 3:15 PM. Register online. Sweeps Rowers:This applies to boys and girls who are ready to row four days per week, have had excellent attendance, and have demonstrated an excellent willingness to pull really hard to help make their boats go fast. 3:15-5:00 PM (YSP8 3:15) is full. There is still room for you at 4:50-6:30 PM (YSP8 4:50). We are limited to 20 rowers for each time period. We are happy to announce that Lisa Evans has returned as our sweeps coach. Register online. ADULTS: REGISTER NOW FOR SPRING ON-THE-WATER ROWING:This applies to all persons who have experience from prior years as well as beginners. April 2 will be arriving quickly. Now is the time to register for the Adult Classes and Youth Classes. Register online by clicking on the Adult Applicatio located in the Classes section of this website.
REGISTER ALSO FOR THE MARCH 24 OPEN HOUSE: The free introductory rowing lesson will be on the wate in the barger. If the weather does not cooperate, yo will have a chance to learn how to use the indoor rowing machines. We start at 9:00 AM. Go to www.RowNBC.org for more information. Please register online. Having trouble finding the Narragansett Boat Club? Use 794 Angell Street , Providence for your GPS. There is no house there, but the boathouse is within sight. It is the corner of Angell Street and River Road (Drive).
