NBC Membership

Even though our central activity is rowing, club members also have other responsibilities. Everyone helps maintain the building, the boats, and managing the organization. In addition, we depend on the members to assist in running our two annual regattas, the Mayor's Cup and the Sweeps & Sculls. Since our membership spans many different age groups and needs, we have a variety of dues "plans" available.

Dues must be paid in full before you row.

REGULAR MEMBERSHIP: This is for one rowing parent plus children, up to age 18. Parents who may not currently be rowing also qualify. This is a calendar year membership that spans January 1 - December 31. Regular members have full voting privileges at all quarterly meetings of the Boat Club. The fee is $400.

ADDITIONAL ADULT/CHILD DUES: This is for families that include both rowing members or children between the 18 -21 age bracket. This is for rowing privileges throughout the calendar year. Children under 18 must be supervised by an adult member at no additional charge. The fee for each additional family member who is over 17 and intends to row is roughly based on 1/2 regular dues. $200

FALL PLUS: Begins on September 1 each year. Covers rowing during the current fall season plus regular membership for all of the following year. $535

SUMMER ROWING DUES FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS: Provides rowing privileges from Memorial Day to Labor Day. $285

ACADEMIC CALENDAR ROWING DUES: Established to help our student rowers who may not be here for summer rowing. Privileges run from September 1to May 31. $190

SUSTAINING MEMBERSHIP: Provides use of the ergometers and places your name on our membership list. We do appreciate the support of our sustaining members. The fee is set low to encourage these members to maintain contact with the Boat Club. There is no discount for classes. Sustaining members may not use the boats. $125

FALL PLUS SUSTAINING MEMBERSHIP: Begins on September 1 each year. Same as Sustaining membership listed above. Enables fall newcomers to begin rowing in the ergs throughout the fall. $150

SINGLES RACKS: These are available on a limited, yearly basis to those who are Regular Members. The rack fee is 1/2 the Regular Dues. Temporary racks are subject to reclamation by the Board of Governors for Club shells, provided one month's notice is given to the member affected. Since rack space is severely limited, it is important to contact the Captain on availability. $200

PLEASE NOTE: Regular Membership includes discounts for classes in the NBC Rowing Program. The cost for coaching in the classes or the competitive sweeps programs is extra. All members are entitled to scull or row in the shells they are qualified to use. The Captain will determine your eligibility. Since many members begin their sculling careers in the barge and zephyrs, Boat Club membership enables scullers to move up through five varieties of boats as they develop their skill. If you did this outside the Boat Club, you would have to purchase each of the different types. This would make the cost of learning to scull prohibitive. NBC Membership is quite a bargain. On top of all that, there is the tremendous camaraderie of like-minded folks who enjoy the strength, beauty, and exertion of rowing.

RESPONSIBILITIES: All members are responsible for Boathouse security to insure the safety of rowers and the protection of the equipment. Members are responsible for the operation of the Club through active participation on committees, the Board of Governors, work parties and other functions. Please consult the Policies and Procedures to fully understand what is required of the members.
