Anders Weiss Selected As a Candidate for the 2016 US Olympic Rowing Team January 22, 2016

If you are a Barrington resident, you already know. The Barrington Times did a great story. Anders started out like many of us taking basic strokes in the barge, then zephyrs, and eventually moved into racing singles with Peter Wilhelm where he did very well as a high school sculler. Anders was also a member of Barrington High School's championship soccer team.
Anders is now the youngest member of the Olympic rowing team and a former varsity rower at Brown University. His college teams won silver and bronze medals at the Intercollegiate Rowing Championships. He was also a member of the U23 US National team that won silver at the 2013 World U23 Rowing Championships; that team was coached by Paul Cooke, Brown Men's Head Crew Coach, who is also a Barrington resident. More information to come as the actual boating assignments will be announced in June. Anders is one of 20 men on the US National Team training at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA. A lot can happen in sports between now and June.
By the way, in the hopes that Anders will actually be in a boat, he will continue the lineage of Barrington rowers going to the Olympics: Gregg Montesi (1984 and 1988), Tracy Rude (1992) and Alan Greene (1992). As for the Boat Club itself, we can also add in Ken Foote (1976) and Xeno Mueller (1996).
