Coming in second, not too far off the pace, was the second NBC Double comprised of Isaac Mocarski and Eric Esposito who took the silver with a time of 7:26.731. Only 32 minutes earlier Mocarski and Esposito had just finished racing in the Men’s Youth Singles, which Mocarski won with a time of 7:53.488 to take the gold. All four Rhode Islanders have now qualified for the Youth National Championships which will be held June 8-10 on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, TN. All four have been training throughout the year with their coach, Peter Wilhelm, also of the Narragansett Boat Club. In other competition, Laura Rand, also of the NBC, placed sixth in the Women’s Youth Single.

Buchholz and Wagner, who were last year’s winners of the Youth Doubles at the Head of the Charles and USRowing’s Club Nationals, have the potential to represent the United States at the World Junior Rowing Championships which will be held August 15-19 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
